Architecture

I decided to take this picture in daylight. When I first took this picture earlier during the week there was no sun but, yesterday the sun was very strong so I decided to take the picture again. I also decided to crop the picture and make it symmetrical. Another reason why i cropped the picture was because there was too much distraction  from cars that were parked and people that were walking around. I wanted this to be an abstract picture and make people guess what it is. I live in the neighborhood where the Orange Julep is located.

Self-Portrait

For this self portrait assignment, I wanted to show my creative side. I am really into art and music and that is what I wanted to show in this picture. I was deciding which pose to choose from because on my camera there is a timer which also allows me to take multiple shots. I chose this picture because I wanted to have more of a facial expression. I took this picture in my room because i have a big window which allows a lot of light to come in and my walls are painted white. I also wanted to use Photoshop to show that it is also something I enjoy doing. The only problem I encountered was that some shots were not in focus. I liked this assignment because I got to show my creative side and express myself.

Photogram

The photogram assignment was a great experience. I was never exposed to photograms in the past before. The first class we did this assignment, the result was not the greatest because my first photogram came out all black. I learned that what made my photogram turn black was the strong LED light which I used to expose the object on to the paper. My first experience was not the best and I was disappointed.

The second time we did it, I used a light source that was not the same as before and which was the light of my screen from my phone. This time it worked, the photogram did not turn out black. The only problem was that I didn’t expose the light for a longer period of time which caused my photogram to turn out grey and not black. I was happy that I got an image at least. The process to develop the photogram was not an issue because everything was timed accordingly from the developer to the stopper and then the fixer.

The reason I chose a cassette is because music means a lot to me. I think the cassette and heart made a solid statement that this photogram is about music. If I had a chance to change something, I would probably add some more objects and make sure I get enough light exposure. Overall, I really enjoyed this experience and would do it again if I had the chance to.
